Invoice Discounting
Unlock cash tied up in unpaid invoices.
About Invoice Discounting
Invoice discounting lets you receive most of the value of an unpaid invoice now, instead of waiting for your customer’s credit period to end. When the customer pays, the financier is repaid.
It can be arranged directly with lenders or, for eligible MSMEs selling to larger buyers, through RBI-regulated TReDS platforms.
How much you receive, and at what cost, depends on the lender, your buyer’s creditworthiness and the transaction.
Why consider Invoice Discounting
Faster cash
Turn receivables into working capital without waiting 30–120 days.
Scales with your sales
The more you invoice to good buyers, the more you can access.
Often no extra collateral
The invoice and the buyer’s obligation support the funding.
What providers usually look at
- Invoices raised to creditworthy buyers (often corporates, PSUs or large companies)
- Goods or services already delivered and accepted
- Consistent trading history with the buyer
- GST-compliant invoicing
Every provider sets its own criteria. Meeting these does not guarantee approval.
Documents commonly requested
- Copies of the invoices to be discounted
- Proof of delivery or acceptance
- Buyer details and payment terms
- Receivables ageing report
- GST returns
- Bank statements for the last 12 months
- Business KYC and registration documents
Have these ready to speed things up. Your provider may ask for more.

Questions about Invoice Discounting
Is invoice discounting the same as factoring?
They are related. In factoring the financier often manages collection and the customer may be informed; in discounting you usually keep managing the customer relationship. Arrangements vary.
What is TReDS?
TReDS is an RBI-regulated electronic platform where MSME invoices on large buyers can be financed by multiple financiers. Eligibility depends on the buyer being registered.
